Set to release on November 24, House of Gucci, the new film by Ridley Scott has had several trailers by now. The movie explores the life of Patrizia Reggiani, as she married into the famous family. If you have seen the House of Gucci trailers, you have seen the cast comprised of Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, Al Pacino, but you probably haven't recognized famous actor Jared Leto on them. That is because he underwent a makeup and body transformation to play the role of Paolo Gucci, who doesn’t look anything like Leto’s real-life look.
How Hard Was It?
According to interviews, Leto had to endure six hours of physical transformation, making him bald, fatter and changing his face with prosthetics. He also had to change the way he talked, walked, and acted when portraying the character. It took him one hour to get back to looking like himself. They say that some actors take longer to get into character, and we can see that he immerses completely into the roles he is given.
Where Have We Seen Jared Leto?
This isn’t the first time the actor became unrecognizable for a role in a movie. He had to gain 70 pounds to play the role of John Lennon’s assassin in the movie “Chapter 27”; he also had to lose even more weight to play a trans woman with HIV in the movie “Dallas Buyers Club” which won him an oscar. We can clearly see that he takes his roles seriously and dedicates mind and body to achieving them.
What Was His Last Role?
One of his most iconic, yet troubled roles was playing the Joker in DC’s Suicide Squad, one of his worst-reviewed movies. Overshadowed by Heath Ledger’s version, some consider his the worst version of the character. Rumors about sending used condoms and sex toys to his costars to prepare for the role surfaced while the movie was in production. Later, the actor denied these rumors.
What Is Next for the Actor?
We will see another of Leto’s transformations early next year on Morbius, the living vampire. His second attempt at portraying a famous comic book character. Where he had to lose weight to play the normal version of the character, but later put on weight and muscle to portray the heroic one. Morbius is a Marvel character owned by Sony and the movie is set to release on January 28.
