It’s Hard To Believe That These Weird Things Were Found On The Beach

It’s Hard To Believe That These Weird Things Were Found On The Beach
Abril Barale  | 2 months ago
Everyone loves a pleasant visit to the beach on a sunny day. Nothing can beat the feeling of the sand between your toes, the soothing sound of ocean waves reaching your ears, and the warm sun on your skin. However, not all trips to the seaside are the same. Although your casual beach day may involve finding colorful seashells and lovely sea life specimens on the seashore, there are some occasions when you stumble upon bizarre objects that were thrown away or the bones of weird creatures from the deep sea. With this idea in mind, we’ve compiled the most shocking findings that people made while walking down the beach. You won’t believe how many strange things can be found washed up on the shore.

An Abandoned Walker Appeared on the Beach

You may not know this, but walkers aren’t prepared to aid people as they walk down the beach. These items are prepared to help people walk on solid terrain. So, they become useless for moving through surfaces like sand or rocks.

We don’t know the story behind this hilarious picture. Still, one thing is for sure: either the owner of this walker got tired of pushing it around the beach, or they were miraculously healed by the sea. Honestly, we prefer to believe in the second option.

Someone Found a Baby Octopus While Walking Along the Seashore

We can find many interesting things while walking along the seashore. One of them is sea life, such as baby octopuses. However, these lovely creatures are so tiny that it’s hard to notice them if you don’t scrutinize the shore carefully.

This picture of a minute orange octopus is so cute that we can’t help but smile as we appreciate it. We wonder whether it’ll return to the same beach ten years from now and surprise everyone with its massive size.

This Box Used to Belong to a World War II Anti-Submarine Netting

We’re used to seeing boxes wash ashore every now and then, but we’ve never come across something like this before. This giant wooden container managed to float to the coast of California and attracted the attention of a passer-by who took a picture next to it.

According to some Reddit users, the box in this image is actually a wooden float from some anti-submarine netting from World War II. Its job was to hold nets underwater to obstruct the routes of Japanese submarines and prevent them from making it to the US.

It Isn’t Common to Find a Prehistoric Whale Skull on Your Beach Day

Not many people have had the chance to see how magnificent whales are as they jump out of the water. Moreover, very few have been blessed with the experience of discovering a whale skull on one of their beach days.

It’s hard to tell whether this skull belongs to a living mammal or an extinct creature. Some say that it was from a giant pre-historic whale, but nothing has been confirmed yet. We wonder what this man did with his shocking finding.

You Can Find Plenty of Shark Teeth Near the Seashore

Shark teeth have always been highly sought-after beach finds. People often comb the coastline looking for them as a way to keep themselves entertained. Some beach visitors create unique collections with these items and share them over the Internet to impress netizens.

Contrary to what many think, finding shark teeth near the seashore is relatively easy. If you keep an eye out for triangular shapes, you’ll probably come across two or three teeth along the tideline of any beach on a single trip.

Not Every Day Do You See a Door That Leads to Nowhere

Sometimes, we encounter things that we can’t grasp due to our limited minds. Take this door that leads to nowhere found on the beach, for instance. We can’t help but wonder whether it’d be related to something supernatural that we can’t understand.

What reinforces our strange theory is that there’s a mailbox and a fence alongside the door. Could it be possible that this entrance leads to another dimension? We aren’t sure, but we believe that we’re better off without knowing it.

A Mannequin Head Covered in Mussel Shells Washed up on the Shore

The world is full of mysteries, some of which are hauntingly beautiful and unspeakably creepy at the same time. For example, this mannequin head that looks like something from a horror movie was brought to the French coast after a storm.

During its extended stay at sea, this peculiar item became a lively home for dozens of mussel shells. Despite being slightly unnerving, this fantastic mannequin head looks arty enough to be exposed at a museum next to other nightmare-inducing pieces.

This Mesmerizing Sandcastle Was Designed by an Artist

You’ve probably built plenty of sandcastles in your day for your own enjoyment or that of your kids’. Still, we’re pretty sure that those creations looked more like short, stocky sand piles about the shape of your beach bucket instead of mesmerizing architectural pieces.

Don’t feel ashamed, though. Not all of us can be sand artists like Calvin Seibert, the person behind the making of this spectacular sandcastle. His work is so sleek and sharp that he likely surprised every beach-goer in the area.

There’s No Denying That This Pebble Is Perfectly Round

It’s no secret that our brains are hardwired to like order. More often than not, we find things like symmetry and perfect alignments highly satisfying. That’s why our perfectionist side feels calm and relaxed when seeing this perfectly round pebble.

We can hardly imagine how long it took for this small pebble to acquire such a fantastic shape through erosion. If this isn’t proof of the magnificent power of the ocean and the waves, we don’t know what would be.

Someone Chained Their Flip-Flops to a Bike Parking Rack

Losing your flip-flops on a trip to the beach is annoying, especially when you can see them being swept away by the tide. However, we believe that the person who chained their sandals to a bike parking rack took things a little too far.

Seriously, taking such an exaggerated measure to protect your shoes doesn’t make much sense. If you don’t want the sea to steal your flip-flops, find a place where the tide can’t reach them and leave them there. It isn’t that difficult.

These Colorful Stones Were Arranged to Create a Pebble Rainbow

Among the most beautiful beach discoveries on this list, we can find these colorful stones set to make up a pebble rainbow. This lovely art piece was photographed on a British beach by a passer-by who was left mesmerized after stumbling upon it.

To be honest, we didn’t know that you could find many different colored pebbles by the sea until now. We certainly need to take trips to the beach more often to collect all of those stones and replicate this fantastic idea ourselves.

Sand Villages Are Rare Structures

For decades, beaches worldwide have witnessed countless people demonstrating their skills in building sand sculptures in every shape and size you can imagine. In fact, some artists get as far as making an entire village and decorating it with fake snow.

It remains a mystery who built this sand town in miniature. Hopefully, the talented person behind this fabulous architectural piece will come across a picture of it and claim it as theirs over the Internet. Perhaps they’ll even become famous afterward.

Finding a Pyrite Fossil Is a Rare Occurrence

Fossils are pretty neat. They prove that some incredible creatures inhabited our planet long before we populated it. If you’re lucky, you can come across tiny pyrite fossils of ammonites, shelled cephalopods that died out about 66 million years ago.

According to the comment section on the post of the person who shared this photo, beaches in the UK are full of pyrite fossils. If you have the chance to go for a walk along the British coastline, keep an eye out for these magnificent specimens.

It Remains a Mystery How This Piano Tower Came to Be

We’ve seen many mysterious findings throughout our lives, but none is as strange as this one. The more we look at the picture, the more we feel our minds are invaded with questions. How did this piano tower come to be?

From the way we see it, there are two options: either the pianos were piled up by a crane worker, or the sea is much more powerful than it seems. The first one is more plausible, but it’s hard to say.

A Beach Got Full of Bananas Once

In 2007, the residents of the island Terschelling, located a few miles from the north of Amsterdam, woke up one morning to find their beaches littered with bananas. We know that it sounds hard to believe, but this photo proves it.

Much to our disappointment, the explanation behind this phenomenon isn’t supernatural at all. The dozens of bananas washed on the island shore came from six cargo containers that fell off a ship during a storm. This doesn’t make the discovery less weird, though.

Dragons Sometimes Fly Near the Coast

Most of us dream of encountering a dragon someday. However, since these fantastic creatures don’t exist, we settle for any dragon-shaped item we can find. On this occasion, a beach visitor ran into this massive kite of Toothless from the How To Train Your Dragon movies and photographed it.

As you can see, the kite is immense. Given its size, it could be a part of a Disney parade. If it flew away, we’re pretty sure that many people would confuse it with a real dragon, don’t you agree?

Seaweeds Can Create Sundials

Before analog and digital clocks were invented, sundials were in charge of telling us the time. These devices cast a shadow when their vertical rods fall onto a flat surface marked with time measurement units, pointing to the correct hour.

Apparently, humans aren’t the only living things that can craft sundials; this seaweed can do so too. Somehow, it got buried under the sand and created perfect circles around itself as the wind carried it along. What a curious discovery.

A Piece of Glacial Ice Was Washed Ashore

It’s a well-known fact that you’ll find colorful seashells, different kinds of seaweed, and some driftwood on a seashore. Still, you’d never expect to see a little piece of ice that looks like a metal shard traveling around the world with the tide.

A beach-goer discovered this peculiar ice formation that was washed ashore and decided to share it over the Internet. They didn’t give any details about where it came from, but we assume that it belonged to a glacier located near the coast.

Seals Love Sunbathing in Deck Chairs

Although seals are entirely adapted to life underwater, you can often spot them performing crazy stunts and funny antics on the surface. Here, someone caught one of these adorable animals lying in the sun while resting on a deck chair.

This image is downright hilarious. The seal is sleeping in an amusing position among a bunch of beach-goers, but it doesn't seem to notice or care about it. We feel a bit sorry for the poor person who lost their seat, though.

This Stunning Glass Orb Has Barnacles All Over It

Hundreds of items people lost or threw away appear washed up on the shore every year. Nonetheless, we don’t think that any of them can look as magical as this stunning glass orb found by a Reddit user on a Hawaiian beach.

It’s hard to say how this orb found its way onto the ocean. Still, it looks like it spent quite a bit of time there because it’s covered in tiny barnacles. In our opinion, this item would be a perfect prop for a Dungeons and Dragons game.

Severed Parts of Jellyfish Are Dangerous

Despite the fact that collecting objects from the beach is an entertaining hobby, it’s advisable not to pick up everything you find. Without realizing it, the person who took this picture got their hands on a severed part of a dangerous jellyfish species called “Portuguese man o’ war.”

The tentacles of these creatures stinging nematocysts contain enough venom to paralyze and kill small fish and cause welts on human skin. So, if you ever come across this jellyfish, leave it alone in the sand instead of touching it with your bare hands.

Someone Took a Picture of a Collection of Footprints

Usually, footprints don’t last much in the sand. The tide washes them away, and the wind might blow them over. Yet, this fantastic collection of prints remained on the beach long enough to be captured on camera by a passer-by.

If you take a closer look, you can appreciate multiple tire tracks, some shoe prints, dog paws, and bird claws marked on the sand. We acknowledge that this may not be the most exciting finding on this list, but it’s still quite an incredible thing to see.

A 100-Year-Old Bottle of Soda Washed Ashore

Certain mind-blowing discoveries wouldn’t have been possible without the incommensurable power of tidal waves and the strong winds from brutal storms. That seems to be the case with this 100-year-old bottle of Smile soda found ashore by a treasure collector.

This image shows that glass takes hundreds of years to degrade, much like every other human-made product. Because of that, we should be more careful with what we throw at the sea if our goal is to keep our planet healthy.

There’s a Round Rock Inside This Rock

When we first saw this picture, we thought that we were staring at a giant hard-boiled egg. However, after looking at it closely, we discovered that this was a round rock encased in another rock and that someone had cracked it open on the beach.

Needless to say, this occurrence is rare. According to someone who commented on this photo on Reddit, the curious item is a piece of dead coral encased inside a stone that acquired this unique shape due to years of erosion.

This Pebble Has a Lovely Imprint on Its Surface

While beaches are usually made of sand, that isn’t always the case. Some coasts boast vast amounts of smooth, shiny pebbles. Although many beach visitors think that these stones are dull, we assure you that this image will make you change your mind.

No one can deny that the cute star-shaped imprint on this pebble is something out of this world. We don’t know whether it’s a fossil encased inside the rock or not, but it’s definitely a remarkable discovery and an unusual souvenir.

Not Every Day Do You See Impressive Stone Arches

As you probably know by now, you can run into plenty of unexpected sights on a trip to the beach. For example, this surprising finding involves a bunch of arches built by stacking ordinary stones in front of the sea.

Instead of using glue to secure the pebbles in place, the person who built these arches was patient enough to pile them up so that gravity would hold them together. That’s why this finding is quite spectacular to look at.

It Looks Like This Towel Could Belong to a Giant

Many beach-goers invest in beach towels each year and lay them on the hot sand to sit over them. More often than not, these people look for the most extensive bath sheets they can find to create the perfect seating spot on the beach.

Nonetheless, we’ve never seen a beach towel as giant as this one. An entire football team could sit on it, and there’d still be room for more people. We wonder how its owner manages to wash it when they get home.

It Isn’t Common to Find a Whale Spine on Your Beach Day

Previously on this list, we told you that someone came across an ancient whale skull on their beach day. It was pretty impressive, remember? Well, those aren’t the only bones from these gentle giants that you can find along the coastline.

It turns out that colossal whale spines can also be washed ashore every now and then. Unfortunately, we don’t know what happened to the rest of this animal. Still, judging by the state of the bones left behind, it has been gone for a while.

Tidal Waves Can Create Snowballs

When you think of snowy weather, the beach usually isn’t the first place that comes to mind. However, this doesn’t mean that it doesn’t snow there. And, whenever that happens, tidal waves create massive snowballs that resemble weird mermen eggs.

These crazy balls made of snow and ice are created by the movement of the cold waters. The sea polishes them into a round shape and takes them ashore afterward. We’re unsure whether they can be used to start a snowball fight, though.

Someone Ran Into a Suspicious-Looking Container at the Beach

Of all the things you could find while walking down the beach, a strange artifact with Russian text written all over it is the last item you’d expect to run into. If this beach-goer hadn’t taken a picture of it, we wouldn’t have believed their story.

Apparently, this suspicious-looking container might have been an artifact used in a Russian space program. Some say that it was a tank that contained high-pressure nitrogen, like the ones on the sides of most rockets. Honestly, this is the most peculiar discovery we’ve seen so far.

This P-38 Plane Was Abandoned Underwater

Even though most of us want our beachside vacations to be relaxing and uneventful, we can’t control everything in life. Sometimes, we may come across historical relics abandoned near the coast. Take this rusted P-38 plane in Wales, for instance.

Image courtesy of u/Fais-moi-un-bisou / Reddit
The aircraft is often submerged underwater, covered in sand. Still, it becomes unearthed from time to time due to the shifting ocean currents. Honestly, we’d love to visit the Welsh beach where it’s located and see it in person to appreciate its beauty.

A Block of Ice Shaped Like a Chair Washed Ashore

Some beaches in the world stand out from the rest. For example, Iceland’s seaside is famous for its mesmerizing black sand and clear waters. Occasionally, beach visitors find ice blocks washed ashore as well. However, none of them is as unique as the one in this picture.
A Block of Ice Shaped Like a Chair Washed Ashore
Image courtesy of u/cheebdog / Reddit
It seems like the movement of the ocean waves shaped this ice formation into a perfect chair to appreciate the Icelandic landscape. We wouldn’t dare to sit on it for long, though. We don’t want to get our bottoms frozen.

Some Beaches Encourage Visitors to Play With Their Dogs

Losing your dog is one of the most painful experiences. You miss going down the coast with them and playing catch until the sun sets. Nonetheless, some people can turn their negative emotions into something beautiful and bring a quota of joy to the world.

Phoebe’s owner, for instance, put up a sign with a wholesome message at the beach and prepared a box with tennis balls to invite dog parents to play with their furry friends by the shore. The sweet gesture is so heartwarming that it almost made us cry.

Finding a Television Next to a Chair Is a Rare Occurrence

For some people, sitting on the beach for hours is boring. They don’t understand why looking at the waves coming and going is supposed to be fun. These individuals would rather be doing something else, such as watching their favorite TV show.

Perhaps that’s what the person who brought this television to the beach had in mind. We don’t think that they could find a way to turn it on, though. Even if they could, the TV signal is always weak near the sea.

It Isn’t Common to Find a Watch Repair Kit Scattered Along the Seashore

When you need a repair kit for your old watch, you take your money, go to the store, and buy it. Or, at least, that’s what we thought before seeing this photo from someone who ran into an entire clock repairing set scattered along the seashore.

Image courtesy of u/RickyShmee / Reddit
Considering how the whole repairing kit looks, it was probably lost at sea during the 20th century. We can’t help but feel excited as we think about the history behind the set and the reasons that led to it getting swallowed by the ocean.
